Saniklar – Stabilized chlorine - Pool

Saniklar – Stabilized chlorine for pool

Saniklar stabilized chlorine contains cyanuric acid. The cyanuric acid is a stabilizer that protects the chlorine in the pool from the UV rays coming from the sun. You thus get a chlorine that does not burn off in the sunlight, in the same way as unstabilized chlorine.

In smaller concentrations, stabilized chlorine is an excellent alternative to unstabilized chlorine. At high concentrations of stabilizer in the pool water, the chlorine will lose its effect in the worst case. When the chlorine loses its effect, it is because the water has been over-stabilized - i.e. that you have unfortunately got chlorine lock. You will therefore experience that the water turns green, as the chlorine no longer has the same effect on the algae and thus there is only one solution; to change the majority of your pool water, to reduce the concentration of stabilizer.

Stabilized Chlorine in Pool

Maintaining a pool with Saniklar stabilized chlorine is crucial for ensuring clean and safe bathing water. Stabilized chlorine, often known as dichlor or trichlor, contains cyanuric acid (CYA) as a stabilizer, which helps protect the chlorine from degradation caused by the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. Here are some key points and tips for maintaining your pool with Saniklar stabilized chlorine:

  1. Understanding Stabilized Chlorine

Stabilizer: Cyanuric acid in stabilized chlorine extends the chlorine's lifespan in the pool water by protecting it against UV light. This means that the chlorine remains active for longer, and you need to add chlorine less frequently. Product Types: Dichlor and trichlor are the most common forms of stabilized chlorine. Dichlor dissolves quickly and is less acidic, while trichlor dissolves more slowly and is more concentrated.

  1. Proper Water Balancing

pH Level: Ensure that the pool's pH level is within the ideal range, typically between 7.0 and 7.4. This ensures that the chlorine works effectively. Cyanuric Acid Level: It is recommended to keep the cyanuric acid level between 30 and 50 ppm (parts per million). Too high levels can reduce the chlorine's disinfecting effectiveness.

  1. Regular Testing

Test the Water: Regularly test the pool water's chlorine, pH, and cyanuric acid levels. This can be done with test strips or a digital tester. Adjustment: Adjust the chlorine and cyanuric acid levels as needed to ensure the water is safe and clean.

  1. Proper Dosing

Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when adding stabilized chlorine to your pool. Overdosing can cause skin and eye irritation and potentially damage the pool's surfaces and equipment.

  1. Shock Treatment

Consider performing a shock treatment regularly, especially after heavy use or heavy rain, to break up chloramine compounds (bound chlorines) and restore chlorine's effectiveness.

  1. Equipment Maintenance

Clean and maintain the filtration system regularly to ensure it works effectively together with the chlorine to keep the pool clean.

  1. Monitoring Stabilizer Level

Over time, the level of cyanuric acid can rise, especially if you are consistently adding stabilized chlorine. If the level becomes too high, it may require partial or full replacement of the pool water to bring it back to a safe level.
