The BRITA Carbonate Hardness Test is designed to accurately measure the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium carbonates in water, known as carbonate hardness. This measurement is essential for determining the water's hardness, which directly affects the taste, quality, and efficiency of water treatment equipment.

An accurate assessment of carbonate hardness is also critical to maximize the lifespan and performance of BRITA filters, as it helps prevent scale buildup and ensures optimal operation of your water filtration systems.

This test is ideal for home use and in professional settings where constant water quality monitoring is required.

Instructions:

Fill the test tube with 5 ml of water, then add the hardness test drop by drop until the water changes color from red to green. At the first drop, the water turns red, then you count the number of drops until the water changes color to green.

Water hardness (dH):

0-4 drops = Very soft

4-8 drops = Soft

8-12 drops = Medium hard

12-18 drops = Fairly hard

18-24 drops = Hard
